Privacy & Security Policy
1. Purpose
1.1.In this Privacy and Security Policy (“Policy”), JSE e-Campus refers to the Jamaica Stock Exchange e-Campus, an institution of learning established for the following purposes:
1.1.1. Providing virtual and electronic academic and professional training;
1.1.2. Increasing the availability of alternative professional and academic programs for professionals in the financial industry in Jamaica, or other persons interested in benefiting from the JSE e-Campus academic programs;
1.1.3. Providing higher education certification to persons in the financial industry and other persons interested in benefiting from the JSE e-Campus academic programs;
1.1.4. Providing Continuing Professional Development education courses for certain professionals, including but not limited to attorneys and accountants;
1.1.5. Contributing to national and regional workforce development by offering academic and professional training to persons in the labour market.
1.2 Interpretation - This Privacy and Security Policy outlines how the JSE e-Campus (herein referred to as “we”, “us” and “our”) collects, holds, discloses, uses and protects users (herein referred to as “you”, “your” and “the user”) information when the Platform is accessed or used. This Policy is aimed at complying with applicable privacy and data protection laws. Please read this policy before using the Platform.
2. Acceptance
i. By submitting your personal information through the Platform you consent to the collection and use of your personal information in accordance with this Policy.
ii. Our JSE e-Campus Terms and Conditions are incorporated by reference into this Policy.
iii. We reserve the right to amend or unilaterally change any of the terms and conditions of this Policy from time to time subject to notifying you of any such amendments. Such notifications shall be posted on the Platform and shall be effective immediately upon such posting unless otherwise stated. Upon use of the Platform you are bound by such amendment and should check the current Policy on a regular basis. If at any time you do not accept the terms of this Policy you should not use the Platform. Use of the platform confirms your acceptance of the terms contained therein.
3. Information Collection
i. We collect and use certain personal information when you use our Platform, register for a program or course, and when you make enquiries and respond to communications from us.
ii. The type of information we may collect includes but is not limited to your name, address, country of residence, date of birth, gender, phone number, email address and any other information we may request from time to time.
iii. We use cookies and other technology to collect information about:
- Users, automatically when you use our Platform. This includes but is not limited to, the dates and times of your access and use of the Platform, the user’s IP (Internet Protocol) address, browser type and use of any hyperlinks, external links or content available on the Platform; and
- any user activity on the Platform.
iv. The type of information we may store from your credit card includes your name, the first four digits of your credit card, and the last four digits of your credit card.
4. Use of Information
Your information shall be used for the following purposes:
i. To communicate with you and provide you with notifications;
ii. To comply with applicable legislation, regulations and any legal and regulatory requirements;
iii. To identify you and facilitate your transactions (where applicable);
iv. For marketing purposes. We will not share your information with third parties for their marketing purposes; and
v. To assist with the Platform development, analysis, assessing patterns of use and user assistance.
5. Third Parties
i. We may be required to share your personal information with selected third parties (who the JSE e-Campus in its sole discretion determines and in accordance with applicable laws) for the provision of the Platform. You acknowledge and agree to the collection, transfer, storage, and processing of your personal information by these selected third parties for the purpose for which the information was collected. Such third parties are given only information required to perform their duties and are strictly prohibited and not authorized to use your information, other than for the purposes contemplated by this agreement. Such third parties are parties to confidentiality agreements with the JSE e-Campus containing such terms.
ii. The Platform may contain external links to third party sites. We do not have any control or responsibility over third party sites and we make no endorsements or provide any guarantees or warranties in relation to third party sites. You access and use third party sites at your own risk.
6. Disclosure of Information
i. We may be required to disclose personal information to legal and regulatory authorities if requested to do so by any legally valid order or request;
ii. Your personal information may be transferred to assignees or successors (resulting from a merger, sale, corporate reorganization or such other change as may occur in the business structure of the JSE e-Campus).
7. Information Security
i. You should be aware that internet use and communications via the internet are not secure and can result in unauthorized access to your information. Despite, the online security measures and procedures which we have implemented we cannot guarantee that your information will be secure and we do not accept responsibility or liability for any unauthorized access to or loss of personal information.
ii. The JSE e-Campus does not accept responsibility or liability for any damage, loss or expense arising from use of the internet, email services or electronic forms of communication.
8. Your security responsibilities
i. Keep your login details such as passwords and usernames secure;
ii. Do not click on or respond to a link in an email requesting personal information or which appears otherwise to be suspicious. The JSE e-Campus will never ask you for your password, answers to your security questions or your username;
iii. Use safe online security precautions such as anti-spyware, anti-spam and other security measures;
iv. Do not leave your computer or electronic devices unattended while using the Platform. Always log out of your online account and close your browser window;
v. Do not use public computers to gain access to and use the Platform;
vi. Monitor your JSE e-Campus account;
vii. Immediately report any incidents of unauthorized access or use of your JSE eCampus account to us, using the information set out in the contact us area of the Platform.
9. Information Retention
Your personal information shall only be kept for as long as is necessary by law.
